The isolation rate and quantitative presence of Candida ssp. in the contents of periodontal pockets in patients with mild chronic periodontitis in dependence of type II diabetes mellitus duration, and the dynamics of these indicators as feedback to standard initial periodontitis therapy were assessed. It has been shown that in the early stages of periodontitis Candida ssp. has the character of an opportunistic infection, more resistant to traditional therapy in individuals with a long-lasting endocrine pathology.
