Adenosine receptors are widely distributed in various organs and tissues of our body, including the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Adenosine receptors activation is associated with both proinflammatory and antiinflamma- tory effects. Modern literature sources indicating the role of adenosine receptors of the A2A subtype in the development of inflammatory processes in nervous and cardiovascular diseases including cerebral ischemia, damage to the blood- brain barrier, encephalomyelitis, ischemic heart disease, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, chronic heart disease failure were analyzed in this review.
