The aim of this study is to substantiate the hypothesis explaining the processes of acceleration – deceleration. The menarche age of 893 female students of different ethnicity, born in 1995–2000s was studied in connection with the growth rate of world GDP per capita in %. Based on the obtained statistical connections between indicators of the physical development of the child population and economic indicators, an economic hypothesis of growth and development acceler-ation has been proposed, it considers most factors (changes in diets, migration and the possibility of heterosis associated with it, urbanization, increased information load) as dependent on the economic development of the country.
