The change in homocysteine and homocysteine thiolactone blood level is associated with increased risk of cardiovascu- lar diseases and osteoporosis. The decrease in Na+, K+-ATPase activity detected in case of hyperhomocysteinemia. In experiments in vivo it was shown that homocysteine reduces the activity of Na+,K+-ATPase inhibiting its pump function. However, information about the physiological role of Na+,K+-ATPase in the processes of remodeling of bone tissue is limited due to methodological difficulties.
